ok, so i'm HORRIBLY late in making a Zenkaikon report, but in my defense, xigbar and i started working overnights the day after the con. so most of the time we're either working, or asleep. so tonight is really our first night off on this new schedule.
I must say, Zenkaikon was amazing. xig and i worked friday morning (the last day of our old schedule) and we waited for Pidge and Ray to show up. Pidge, being from a few states away, got a hotel room that she let us stay in, in exchange for helping pay a share of it. once they got there, we snuck up on her in the check in line, exchanged glomps, paid up our portion, and then Ray had to go back with their ride to get another friend of theirs. so Pidge, xig and i went out to dinner with MarMar and Xem .
unfortunatly, MarMar wasn't able to come to Zenkai, so we all did our best to make her feel better.
we headed back to the room at the Radison, which had NO windows (a little creepy) and then Lex came over with Xaldin and Kels, and Ray showed up shortly after. we all hung out, until about 1 am, and since Ray mentioned there were only a couple hundred non-prereg openings left as of saturday, we all decided to get some sleep and have an early start. good thing too
So i had my alarm set for 6:30, thinking we could snooze until 7 and then get up.... it was quickly established that i had the most annoying ringtone for my alarm known to man, and noone wanted to hear it again so we all got up. we decided to do casual org for the reg line (except xig... he took his time getting his lazy ass out of bed, so we were out in line before he was dressed) with me doing Larx, pidge doing Demyx, and Ray as Saix. not 10 minutes into standing inside in line, the officials decided it was too crowded to have both the reg and pre-reg lines inside.... so they moved the reg line outside. in the cold. and i was in a mini-skirt.
i hate the cold >.<
Pidge and Ray both gave up their jackets to the cause of keeping me warm (since i had on less then either of them) and xig came out shortly thereafter with a blanket. there's a picture somewhere of the three of us huddling with that blanket..... XD
so we stood outside for an hour and a half, and the line finally started moving in. woooooot!
we got our badged, went back to the room, and got in full org. the day progressed from there, and we decided we wanted to head to the KoP mall to get food. Ray went in the change to Axel, so Xig, Pidge and I stood outside and looked at the outrageous line of people that didn't pre-reg.... apparently, since it's a small con, everyone came a little later. Sorry guys.
while we were waiting, we had a mini-xigbar get pushed towards xig and practically run away. she was so cute!!! also while waiting, we had two people come up to us... one of whom had a professional video camera. apparently, they were from MTV's show Made, and they were shooting pre-footage for one of their episodes. they had been to another con, and had a pretty bad image of cosplayers... the ones they'd talked to had been very rude, or something, and so finding good cosplayers that were nice was something they wanted to emphasize. this literally made my day XD they even got all our names and phone numbers, so that they could contact us for info for the show.
after that, we went back inside to check on Ray, helped her finish prepping, and headed off towards my car.... as we were leaving, the back end of the line exploded into screams... so we stopped for pictures. more epicness! hehe some funny pictures came about from that too.
got in the car, almost ran over roxas and xion, and finally went over to the mall. got some scubway, then wandered around to hottopic, then the disney store. saw xaldin and kels again, hung out for a bit, then went back to the con. saw volkie and and had a grand old time, including one of the very very few KH photoshoots that does not sink to a yaoi fest. (sorry guys, but that's usually when i leave XP) got some great shots in a little tree-alcove thing (might post a couple, we'll see) and had alot of fun.
at some point that night we also stopped by work, to show off to our boss who loves it when we dress up. sometime later, we went back to the hotel and promptly passed out.
the next day was more hectic, because we had to be out of the hotel by 11, but Pidge's and Ray's ride wouldn't be there until much later. we decided they would stash their stuff in my car for the time being, and we would head to the con in the meantime. after we got all that sorted out, and the stuff was back in their ride's car, we ended up going to Valley Forge for some pictures. we went to the old Washington Memorial Church, and got some great shots. the only trouble we had was when we wanted to get a shot of all of us, so Pidge decided to try setting a timer on her camera, then racing to her spot. it didn't quite work, and while we were trying, a group came up to us and asked if we wanted some help. we said sure, they used pidges camera and we got the shot. then one of the ladies of the group, dressed all in white, with blonde hair, asked if she could get pictures with us. apparently, she was the object of a photoshoot the three of them were doing, so they offered to take some professional shots of us, FREE! this seriously made the con ten times better (even though it wasn't technically AT the con XP) so we quickly agreed, gave them some info, and they proceeded to take our pictures. the woman in the white dress looked just like a grown up Namine, so we were ecstatic.
unfortunately, sunday had to end sometime. drove home in coats and wig, got changed, and passed out.
Zenkaikon was a blast, and i'm definitely going again next year!!! i hope everyone comes, and that next year the officials have a better grasp on how things have grown
